Following the decision to merge the two corps the final meetings at the individual corps were held on Sunday 16th April.
This is indeed a sad Sunday, as it is the last one for the Northampton East Corps.
After such a long period in existence it is being merged with the Central Corps next Sunday 23rd April, at a meeting led by the DC.
We need to remember the faithful souls who have been at the East over the many years, who have helped to form the DNS of the Corps, with each generation handing the baton over to the next. Some of you will have been here for many years, whilst others have joined quite recently. The change affects everyone, and can be disconcerting.
However we need to embrace the challenges presented by this opportunity and which will enable the Corps to refocus and be prepared to face the future with confidence. A new Mission Development Plan will be discussed and implemented later this year which will take the Corps into new and exciting ventures, more aligned to The Salvation Army ethos of old, and more appropriate for Christians and communities in 2018 and the future.
You all have the opportunity to join in with this venture and help to make the Northampton Corps one of the best, if not the best, in the Territory.
We are sad that we will not be able to stay around and lead the Corps into these exciting times.
Please pray ever harder for the success of this merger.
May God richly bless the Corps and all of its people.
